Deirdra Cox has a knack for forging impactful collaborative partnerships. Take a moment to learn how one phone call in a time of need led to a relationship that’s directly impacting lives in the Metro Atlanta area.
“That thing called Covid,” as Deirdra puts it, led CSE to conduct outreach to find a bank that could support them. Atlanta branch manager, Monique, returned the call within a few hours and worked with Deirdra and team to address their specific needs. Today, Deirdra is a regular visitor of BankSouth – whether it be to make a transaction, discuss new business products or participate in regular “fashion talks” with the Atlanta team members.

With 30+ years of CRA Community Development Banking and Affordable Housing lending experience, Deirdra Cox has made a massive impact in community and economic development. In 2016, she launched Community Sustainability Enterprise in Metro Atlanta. Her uncanny knack to forge impactful collaborative partnerships has been a large driver in her success. Enter BankSouth in 2020, who helped Deirdra and the CSE team for a specific need to secure a PPP loan during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Since then, Deirdra and the team at CSE has continued to rely on BankSouth for their business needs. As they grow, so do their needs, and it is extremely important that they have a bank that is always there to answer the call.
BankSouth also supports Deirdra with her for-profit company, Manifested Strategies, which works with companies and municipalities to help retain employees through unique and diverse retention strategies. “The small community bank is where you need to be, because as you grow, you need to be able to get to your banker,” says Deirdra. “I tell people all the time, ‘You need a banker, not just a bank, and I have bankers (at BankSouth).”
